Launching their US endeavors in Los Angeles, IVE’s fandom DIVEs came in droves to the kickoff “Show What I Have” tour stop. The group, who debuted in 2021, marked a new milestone in their career by starting the tour at the Kia Forum. Like most K-Pop shows, the girls of IVE were the sole stars of the night, starting shortly after 8:00 pm with the hit song “I AM”. The members were knockouts in princess-like white and silver outfits, which were exchanged for grungy, edgy black laced-up pieces later in the show.

After the first two segments, fans were treated to cinematic VCR videos as brief intermissions before the members showed off their individuality with solo and duo covers. Gaeul surprised the crowd with a cover of Ariana Grande’s “7 rings”, Rei with “Every Summertime” by NIKI, and they reconvened as a duo with a short performance of “Wannabe” by the Spice Girls, showing tribute to their girl group ancestors! Liz and Wonyoung hopped onstage to do a short cover of the ballad “Reality” by Richard Sanderson, and Yujin and Leeseo popped off with “Woman Like Me” by Little Mix.

The entire concert really felt like a celebration of the fun in femininity and girlhood, just like IVE’s music portrays. Of course, the girls performed all of their greatest hits (so far!) such as “After Like” and “Love Dive”, but they also pulled some deep cuts like “Hypnosis” and “Lips” to indulge the audience in the sweetest combination of expected and unexpected. They showed infinite potential in the way that they can interact with their fans in the future, both musically and personality-wise. As a newer group, they’re starting to really mark their place in the intersections of K-pop, girl group and music history and this seems like just the beginning of something great.
